Merle

About 5 years ago, I had perceptible scoliosis, a painful lower back and a sore knee. The therapist treating my physical aches recommended that I try pilates. I called the PilatesJoburg Studio and arranged my first pilates session with Bonnie. Since then, with rare exception, I have had two pilates sessions a week at PilatesJoburg.

Today I have a straight spine, and no back or knee problems. I have started running road races, an activity which I could never have contemplated in my pre-pilates days. And no more need for physio or chiro sessions. Effectively, pilates has changed my body and my life.

PilatesJoburg is a warm, loving environment filled with modern equipment. No matter how many sessions or classes I’ve attended each one is somehow different and finds its mark. Both Bonnie and her main instructor Mel are kind knowledgeable and attentive to one’s every need. No problem is too big or small, and nothing is too much trouble for them. There is also a lovely mix of people attending.

If you’re looking to strengthen your body and relax your mind, look no further. I recommend Bonnie and Mel at PilatesJoburg unreservedly.

There is no substitute for one on one attention.
A great way to start is to have individual sessions both on the mat and on the specialised equipment.
Learning on the equipment encourages length through the tissues, but also demands stability, focus and sustained effort.
Working on the Mat teaches the basic intricacies of the technique.
Should you wish to train with a partner or friend there is the option to do a duet, trio or quad session still working on the mat and the equipment.
